The Behavioural Dynamics Institute is just one part of a small community of researchers and thinkers examining communication and behavioural change. We would like to highlight some of the best online resources for a student of this field, in addition to our own publications.

Former head of the BDI Professor Phil Taylor passed away in 2010; he is much missed.

Blogs are always one of the best ways to keep up with the latest thinking in your field. We particularly recommend the tireless work of Matt Armstrong at MountainRunner. He also hosts the invaluable bibliographies compiled by Bruce Gregory of George Washington University. Closer to home, the authors of Behavioural Conflict maintain a blog of the same name, commenting on communications in the news. Meanwhile, mainstream conflict blogs Danger Room, Small Wars Journal and Kings of War all have a longstanding interest in counterinsurgency and communication.

Staying with social media, several LinkedIn groups are also centres for the communication community to debate. We recommend: Social/Behavioral Science & Security; Art and Science of Strategic Influence; Communication for Development; and Strategic Communication.

Finally, two centres deserve particular mention: Berlin’s Institute of Cultural Diplomacy and the University of Southern California’s Center on Public Diplomacy both maintain a steady stream of fascinating publications and valuable events.
